One of my main opponents, former Representative Luke Malek, has dropped out of the race.
Malek has now endorsed Scott Bedke, which unfortunately comes as no surprise. Both Bedke and Malek are big-government insiders. During the disastrous shutdowns last year, while suicide rates were skyrocketing and people were losing their livelihoods, Speaker Scott Bedke refused, as the most powerful legislative leader, to fix the overreaching emergency powers the legislature granted to the Governor. Conservatives uphold freedom, fiscal responsibility, and our God-given rights. We fight to protect the people’s liberty to live their lives in peace. Scott Bedke and Luke Malek have consistently voted against true conservative values, even when the rest of the Idaho House has stood for common sense policies. As a lifelong conservative, I have been a vocal advocate for lower taxes and fiscal responsibility. Scott Bedke has single-handedly defeated the grocery tax repeal for the last several years, quietly choosing to leave tax cuts in committee, often without a vote. I’m a staunch defender of medical freedom. Bedke and Malek both supported legislation to set up a vaccine registry, which would allow the government to track and penalize people who chose to wait on the COVID vaccine. I will continue to protect our 2nd Amendment rights. Bedke and Malek both voted for a state-level Lautenberg Gun Ban, which strips people of their Second Amendment rights for nothing more than a loud argument. The Idaho Constitution states that it is a felony to ban possession of a firearm. Bedke also voted for a “red flag” gun confiscation law, which would strip Idahoans of their Second Amendment rights on nothing more than an accusation. I stand against CRT and anti-American teachings in our schools, and advocate for parents to choose how and what their children are taught. Bedke claims that “Idaho doesn’t have a Critical Race Theory problem,” while this clear anti-American message is being taught to our children with taxpayer dollars. I was recently named one of the most conservative members of the Idaho House of Representatives, and received a 100% A+ rating from the Idaho Freedom Foundation. Bedke has consistently leaned left in his own party, and his conservative rating has continued to drop. Bedke’s lifetime average according to the American Conservative Union is 58% for his last six terms, and 53% in his most recent terms. My lifetime average has been 97%. The average rating in the State House in 2020 was 74%. In many ways, I’m glad to see Luke Malek drop out of the race. He is, sadly, as left-leaning as Bedke, and we certainly don’t need two of them. But now, we must win the office. There has never been a more important time for TRUE leadership. Without strong leadership in Idaho, we will end up with more elected officials who are not only out of touch with the people of our state, but who also do not understand the value of freedom or the importance of defending America’s core values. Strong leadership requires bravery, and a willingness to stand up for freedom even when the Left and the establishment label it “extreme.” It is critical we elect those who are not afraid to hold the line. Bedke’s record makes it quite clear what his priorities have been while in office. His record paints a clear story of political favors and underhanded moves that derail true conservative legislation. Next year’s election can put an end to the political games in Idaho. Will you please give $250, $100 or $50 today? With your help, I can hold the line for Idaho, and champion your freedom. When my opponents start calling conservatism “extremism,” we know it’s time to double down on our efforts. Our future depends on it! Sincerely, Priscilla Giddings Candidate for Lt. Governor of Idaho
